Hi there!
I’m Christine du Plessis, the founder of Silver Pony Web Design.
My journey to web design wasn’t exactly conventional, but that’s what makes it special.
After finishing school, I embarked on what was supposed to be a gap year running my own horse-riding business. That “gap year” turned into a few unforgettable years spent taking tourists from around the world on horseback rides through the stunning Karoo veld. Meeting new people and sharing the beauty of the Karoo was a dream come true and taught me the value of personal connections and creating meaningful experiences.
Later, my path took me into the world of business and accounting. I worked in office environments while studying toward a BCom in Business Management. But midway through my studies, I realised there was more to life than crunching numbers and chasing deadlines. While I appreciated the stability of a traditional career path, it wasn’t what truly made me come alive.
Deep down, I’ve always had a creative side waiting to be explored. With the digital world growing rapidly, I decided to shift gears and dive into web design. I completed an online Web Design course through the University of Cape Town, fell in love with WordPress, and the rest, as they say, is history.
My Roots and Interests
I’m lucky to call Somerset West home again, just a short drive from Cape Town. I live here with my amazing husband and our two cats, who keep life interesting. When I’m not designing websites, you can usually find me riding my horse, Zorro, who was my loyal guide horse during my trail-riding days. We’ve been through a lot together, and he even makes a cameo in my intro image!
Gardening, cooking, and keeping up with the latest trends in WordPress and Elementor are other passions of mine. I’m always learning and striving to improve my craft so I can offer my clients the best possible service.
